About the role:
This is your opportunity to provide leadership in integrating strategic planning and performance to derive insights and provide recommendations to the business to enhance performance. You will lead the development of key performance artefacts enabling business groups and SLT to analyse, monitor and report on progress against MBIE’s strategy and business plans. Working with a high performing team you will provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to enable team members to perform to their maximum potential.
• This position supports planning and performance reporting, advice and support across the Finance and Performance Group (F&P) and MBIE as a whole.
• In this role you will enjoy a high level of autonomy to influence, build relationships and drive an integrated planning and performance reporting cycle across the Ministry.
• Lead in the integration of strategic planning and performance (financial and non-financial) to enable MBIE to be successful in Growing New Zealand for All.
• Work with the Planning and Performance team to lead projects that create new solutions that lift performance and budget information meeting the needs and expectations of Vote Ministers and SLT.
• The Enterprise Planning, Performance and Reporting branch, which sits within Finance and Performance is responsible for planning MBIE wide processes and establishing organisational frameworks. The branch presents an enterprise view to our Senior Leadership Team, including but not limited to monthly internal and external reporting, internal and external budgets and forecasts, investment planning, external budget bids, external audit, MBIE Annual Report production, strategic plans and project transformation.
• Flexible working out of our Wellington Offices including but not limited to start and finish times.

Skills and experience required:
• Highly developed conceptual and analytical ability, with the ability to deal with complex and emerging issues that contain a high level of ambiguity
• Experience in financial performance reporting within a large complex and diverse organisation
• Ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work and come to an understanding of unfamiliar and complex concepts and environments
• Highly developed business analysis, performance and reporting skills and the ability to provide high quality and innovative advice to senior management, Central Agencies and Ministers in these areas
• Excellent understanding of and demonstrated technical expertise at a senior level in developing and applying best practice financial business planning, performance and reporting frameworks and processes
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, demonstrated through experience at a senior level in successfully leading and producing key accountability, planning and budget related documents and performance reports
• Proven ability to think independently and coordinate organisation-wide systems and processes
• Welcomes and values diversity, and contributes to an inclusive working environment where differences are acknowledged and respected
• High standards of professionalism and performance driven
• Experience leading successful change initiatives
