About the role:

As an Immigration Officer you will be responsible for processing visa applications, an administration-based role where you’ll be taking the information available to you and using this to make sound decisions as you process visa applications.

You will be interpreting immigration legislation, and utilising your proven analysis, judgement and decision-making abilities to make quality immigration decisions. This is a fast paced, high-volume environment, and your strengths will lie in your ability to keep pace while prioritising your workload.

We have several vacancies within our 2 Auckland branches:

• Manukau – located in the heart of Manukau City, next door to the bus depot, train station, and shopping centre.
• Henderson – plenty of free parking options, close to West City Mall and away from the hustle and bustle of the central city.

Once fully trained we have a range of Flexible Working Arrangements within MBIE such as:

• Work your hours in 9 days over two weeks which will allow you to enjoy a weekday off every fortnight.
• Work your hours in 4 working days and have a 4-day work week.
• We provide you the equipment you need to allow you work at home – but note there will still be a requirement to work in the office a few days a week.
• The office opens at 6am and closes at 6pm. You can start work any time between 6am and 9:30am, work your hours and go home for the day. There is no requirement to start at the same time every day – great for those that need to drop-off/pick-up kids!

Start date is 20 March 2023.

Skills and experience required:

• Recent experience in a high-performance service delivery environment; including caseload management
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven expertise conveying concepts, and information clearly and concisely to any variable audience
• Computer literacy and aptitude in MS Office applications and other software packages
• Experience in an administration/processing environment
• Effective time management with the ability prioritise workflow demands and case loads
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and able to adapt to change on short notice
• Ability to learn quickly and apply new information as required
• A strong moral compass, sound decision making and be known to ‘act with integrity’ in all you undertake
• A relevant tertiary qualification is advantageous but not essential
• The motivation and willingness to make a positive difference as a proactive team member
• Proficiency in an Asian language/s, such as Mandarin Chinese, would be advantageous but not essential
