Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

The Communications Adviser supports the development of both internal and external facing communications for the Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme. They work with the Programme Director and wider programme teams to ensure consistency and a joined-up communications approach across the Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme workstreams and Te Poutāhū (Curriculum Centre) business units.

As a Communications Adviser you will:

• Develop communications content for the Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme, including monthly updates, Programme Director updates, media releases, programme implementation and change support outcomes.
• Work in close alignment with the Programme’s Ministerials team to support consistent, joined-up messaging where required in responding to requests
• Provide communications advice, planning and guidance.
• Work in conjunction with the Sector Engagement Team to support communications and stakeholder engagement planning as required across the programme.
• Develop and manage the Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme Communications Plan.
• Maintain a library of approved programme key messages and content to ensure these can be readily accessed and leveraged for future communications, and by the Ministerials channel.

Mōhou ake | About you

You will be a motivated individual with a passion for communicating, and an eye for detail. You will have excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to adapt content and tone to suit your audience and channel.

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

You will also demonstrate:

• At least three/ five years’ experience in communications roles.
• Experience in producing excellent written and verbal communications.
• Experience in working with and producing communication content in Te Reo Māori would be valuable
• Experience in Organisational Change Management communication and engagement

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau. To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.
