Report Writing and Research Assistant, Waitangi Tribunal Unit (Permanent, Part Time)

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic team member early in their research career to join our Research Services team. If you are looking for a rewarding part-time role with opportunities to utilise your research, proofreading, and editing skills, then you may be the candidate that we are looking for.
The Report Writing and Research Assistant will provide support to Research Services staff and contractors tasked with completing Waitangi Tribunal commissioned research reports and other research tasks. This includes archival and online research, proofreading and editing of draft reports, reference checking, and other support for research reports commissioned for Waitangi Tribunal’s district and kaupapa inquiries.

To be the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate:
Candidates will also have an understanding of, and commitment to, the work of the Waitangi Tribunal including knowledge of te reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori. You will have a relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in New Zealand history and/or Māori studies.

The Research Services team supports the Waitangi Tribunal as it requires evidence to go to hearing.
The Waitangi Tribunal Unit provides a comprehensive range of services to the Waitangi Tribunal, a permanent commission of inquiry that inquiries into, and reports on claims submitted by Māori under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975.

Salary Range: The appointing salary for this role will be between $56,729 and $78,441 pro-rata based on skills and experience.
