Te Āhuatunga a Te Tūranga/About The Role
The Waitangi Tribunal Unit provides a comprehensive range of services to the Waitangi Tribunal, a permanent commission of inquiry that inquires into and reports on claims submitted by Māori under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975.
The Researcher/Analyst position description spans three teams within the Waitangi Tribunal Unit. We are currently seeking a hardworking, talented and motivated professional to join the Report Writing team.

To be successful in the role you will have strong verbal and written communication and analytical skills, and the ability to plan and prioritise work. You will be able to use your initiative and be an effective communicator with a strong focus on customer service. You will thrive in a fast-paced work environment with multiple workstreams.
We are looking for a team player who is highly collaborative and able to inspire and build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate an understanding of te reo and tikanga.
You will have a tertiary qualification in New Zealand history, Māori studies, public policy, law or other relevant disciplines, and preferably a post-graduate degree or relevant professional experience.

An understanding of, and commitment to, the work of the Waitangi Tribunal is essential and an understanding of te reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori would be beneficial.

Salary Range: The appointing salary for this role will be between $66,518 and $93,908 based on skills and experience. From 1 June, the appointing salary for this position will be between $70,518 and $97,908.
