Service Design
Service Design is about making government services more accessible for the people of Aotearoa New Zealand. This means putting people at the centre of the designing process to ensure services help them do the tasks they need to do, like getting a job or finding secure housing.
A Service Designer at MSD
We are looking for someone who can represent one or more of the many design disciplines to enhance the way we do our work. The role of Service Design can be broad at MSD and can cover everything from UX/UI design to Graphic design, from co-design to product implementation – depending on where you are in the business.
The Service Design Community at MSD
Our practice is always growing and maturing. The Design community at MSD regularly comes together to share ideas and support each other in their development. As a new service designer, we have a safe space where you can receive advice from experienced designers and use your background to challenge current ideas and processes.
Where you’ll be working
We have a Service Design position that sit within MSDs ‘Employment Portfolio’ which strives to ensure New Zealanders are supported to prepare for, find and sustain suitable employment.
The ‘Employment Portfolio’ is made up of several teams that manage their own programmes of work.
We have a Service Designer position that sits in MSDs ‘Housing portfolio’.
This portfolio supports people to help find and sustain housing that fits their needs.
The Housing portfolio is looking for a service designer to join their team of creative thinkers and designers.
The group is currently reviewing the Emergency Housing system and the support provided to people accessing housing products and services. The team is currently in the midst of a discovery phase. When you join, the team will be starting to design and build the products and initiatives.
We are looking for someone who can help the team as they embark on the design phase of their projects. This work includes working with our people, staff, iwi, housing partners & providers. You have the confidence to facilitate workshops, be a champion of our end-users and a commitment to thinking creatively throughout the end-to-end process.
