Did you know our unique abalone (Haliotis iris) or pāua kahurangi, as named by Māori, are distinct for their clear white meat encased within a beautiful blue shell. Its subtle taste and firm texture reflect the superior quality of the water supply, rich in natural nutrients.
Ruakaka is the heart of the Whangarei South Coast. Live beachside, in a close-knit community and discover a career in aquaculture working in our pāua kahurangi team as a Farm & Process Worker.
Our Opportunity:
True to provenance. Our abalone farm is supplied with some of the highest quality ocean seawater in the world through a natural deep-water intake.
Key responsibilities:
This role is physical, and you must be able to lift, up to 15 kgs on a continuous basis.
What You Will Bring:
Ideally you will have an interest in developing a career in aquaculture. You will be comfortable working in cold and dark conditions that provide optimal growing conditions for paua to be farmed, or in a processing environment where you pack and dispatch paua to customers both locally and internationally.
Physically fit, you will be a reliable team player and know the importance of being organized. Easy to work with, you are an effective communicator who possesses a high level of integrity. Your reputation as an honest, hardworking, and a down to earth employee will proceed you, as well as your can-do attitude. No job is too small or big as you always strive to do your best and complete your work to the highest standard.
