Wild Abalone (Paua Tuwa) and Ready to Eat Meals (Kai ora) is a division of Moana New Zealand based in Palmerston North. It is a multi-faceted operation specialising in the manufacturing of canned paua tuwa and ready to eat meals, for local and export markets.

He aha tāu e mahi ana | What You’ll Be doing:

Reporting to the NPD Manager, you will be part of the product development team, supporting and contributing to projects focused on new product development, existing product improvement, and research and application assessments for product efficacy.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the delivery of new product development projects
• Ensuring best practice quality systems are in place and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements
• Responsible for product packaging and process improvements

• Assist with HACCP plans for new products and reviews
• Perform factory trials for developing products
• Commercialisation of new products

Ko ngā mea ka hiahiatia e koe kia angitu te haere |What you’ll need to be successful:

With a degree in food technology, you will have a minimum of two years’ experience across all technical aspects of food processing within FMCG and manufacturing environments. With a sound knowledge and understanding of thermal processing including validation procedures, you will bring strong statistical skills and the ability to simplify complex processes.

Most importantly you will be a proactive self-starter, willing to roll up your sleeves and do what-ever it takes to get the job done. Other key requirements include:

• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Experience in either NPD projects or process optimisation projects
• Excellent report writing skills.
• Motivated to deliver exceptional results
• Ability to work independently, and as part of a team

Confident, with the ability to engage and connect with people at all levels, you must be highly organised, have a strong attention to detail, and be highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications in Retort Operating and Canning Supervisory, and Thermal Processing of low acids foods are highly advantageous.
