Moana New Zealand Looking for Maintenance Engineer at Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui Full Time

He aha tāu e mahi ana | What You’ll Be doing:

Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, the key focus of this role is to help deliver optimal engineering and operational maintenance performance, ensuring business continuity and achievement of agreed KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain the highest standard of operational machinery and equipment for the site
• Implement and maintain a structured and effective schedule for checks, repairs, and maintenance, minimizing impact to operations
• Ensure all equipment and machinery meets company safety standards
• Manage repairs and breakdowns; ensure reliability of machinery through robust monitoring
• Maintain workshop and ensure all inventory is recorded, stored safely and secure
• Work closely with on-site management team to ensure continuous improvement of processes and practices, staying up to date with best practice safety standards
• Supporting Operators that are not mechanically minded to troubleshoot equipment failures
• Use of Continuous Improvement Tools (YY, 5W1H, RCA etc.) for problem solving

No day is the same at Moana, so be prepared to be on the go, juggle multiple priorities and work with a variety of people. As a doer, no job will be too small or big and you will be comfortable working both autonomously and in a team.

This role requires a hardworking, reliable, and motivated individual, you will have a minimum of 2- 3 years’ experience working as a maintenance engineer, ideally in food manufacturing. Ideally you will have a formal mechanical or electrical qualification, but we will consider someone qualified by experience.

You will need the following experience:

• Maintenance of safety stops and guarding
• Skilled ability to use engineering tools, e.g., welding equipment
• Sound working knowledge of health & safety protocols and practices including hazard and incident reporting
• Proven experience developing and implementing scheduling maintenance programs
• Computer literate, process orientated and strong attention to detail
• High speed fully automated Can (Tinplate) Seaming expertise
• Welding ticket highly advantageous

You will be meticulous in maintaining equipment, and the workshop, and have robust inventory management systems. You will be known as someone who operates in an ethical, productive, and engaging manner.
