About us

We are a young fast-growing startup based in Australia. At Mochi Labs, we’re inventing a new medium to share and organise knowledge. Our platform is a collaborative social network for educators, students, and life-long learners. Building on top of machine learning and computer vision research, our product revolutionises the conventional method of learning and teaching.

Requirements

We’re looking for a backend engineer with:

• At least 6 years of relevant experience in the software industry.
• A strong grasp in JavaScript and/or Python.
• A solid understanding of database concepts and how to build schemas in Postgres.
• Experience in deployment with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience in Terraform and an understanding of infrastructure as code.
• Experience with WebSocket and real-time collaboration technology.
• CI/CD DevOps knowledge.
• Experience in Agile software development methodologies.

Since we’re still a young startup, you’ll inevitably be working across the entire product. Fortunately, our stack is centred around some of the most modern and popular technologies. Our frontend stack consists of:

• React and Next.js
• TailwindCSS
• ProseMirror and Tiptap
• GraphQL

Our backend and infrastructure consist of:

• Hasura
• Postgres and Redis
• Docker and Terraform
• AWS and Cloudflare

Working arrangements

Our company is based in Canberra. Working on-site will be ideal, but a hybrid work model is also acceptable. We will also consider a candidate who is offshore but open to moving to Australia to work with us (visa sponsorship is possible). Being part of a small team, you will get the opportunity to fundamentally shape our product and culture as we build a company from the ground up.
