Job Description
We are searching for a full time Shipper and Receiver to help strengthen our Antibody Discovery team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years relevant working experience and be able to follow best practices, keep accurate records and work in a team-oriented environment.
This position is based in Victoria, BC. where the main activity is fee-for-service antibody development for international clients as a contract research organization (CRO).

Key responsibilities shall include:
- Responsible for the preparation and organization of all inbound and outbound materials for the labs
- Prepare documents (waybills, customs forms, packing lists etc.) and containers for shipment of biological materials
- Organize shipping materials (boxes, foam insulators, dry ice, ice packs etc.)
- Package, seal, label items for shipment
- Coordinate shipment scheduling and pick-up
- Track and follow-up on all shipments to ensure timely and safe arrival
- Troubleshoot and address customer support enquires involving shipments
- Liaise with project Managers and IPA clients on shipments, contents and tracking information
- Receive supplies and custom client shipments and ensure they are stored properly after arrival
- Communicate information on received items in a timely fashion
- Assist in verifying incoming materials against purchase orders
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials
- Assist in performing inventory and keep accurate supplies records in electronic system
- Restock supplies to laboratories as needed and flag items that require re-ordering
- Maintain clean and tidy storage rooms/lockers and fridges and freezers
- Move supplies from loading lock to appropriate locations, including unpackaging of pallet loads
- Manage shipping/ receiving waste, including pallets, Styrofoam, cardboard, dry ice etc.
- Manage laboratory waste pick-up and removal (biological, biohazardous, recyclables, compostable, landfill etc.)
- Assist in keeping the laboratories and office spaces clean, functional and safe
- Coordinate with necessary vendors and service providers as needed
- Provide support to the Purchaser as needed
Requirements:
- Biosafety, Dangerous goods and WHMIS training provided
- High School Diploma, knowledge of biology an asset
- Minimum 2 years relevant working experience in a commercial setting preferred
- Attention to detail: our custom biological products require specialized packaging and paperwork
- Familiar with online courier systems (FedEx, Purolator etc.)
- Ability to bend, twist and lift 20kg on a consistent basis
- Ability to work with dry ice and level 2 biological materials (that are safely packaged)
- Knowledge of international import permits, and brokerage systems is preferred (NAFTA, HS Codes)
- Ability to learn and use Oracle-based software, Excel, WORD
- Capable of working under pressure to meet tight timelines
