Momentum Consulting Group Looking for Construction Site Manager at Wellington, Wellington Region, New Zealand Full Time

Key to the company’s success, Site Managers are professional members of the construction project team. Their role is to co-ordinate the day-to-day site activities of construction projects, whilst making a positive difference.

Specific role responsibilities

This Role Is Responsible For

Construction

• Site Operations
• Take responsibility for all operations on assigned sites ensuring that projects are successfully undertaken.
• Accurately interpret plans, specifications and instructions and supervise construction of the works in terms of them.
• Ensure compliance with the Site-Specific Safety Plan, Quality Assurance Plan and Environmental Management Plan, liaising with the Project Manager.
• Understand the buildability of the projects and ensure quality plans & procedures are implemented and controlled.
• Co-ordination and schedule management
• Plan labour, material, and subcontractor requirements, generally in conjunction with the Project Manager, and maintain the front-line liaison with suppliers and subcontractors necessary to ensure the smooth running of the project.
• Fully understand each sub-contractor’s scope of works and manage their sequencing and daily issues to ensure they comply with Construction requirements regarding operational and health and safety issues.
• Ensure that there is sufficient plant and equipment on site for the work being undertaken, liaising with those responsible for its provision.
• Leadership and training
• Lead and manage staff to ensure that all staff are sufficiently skilled to perform tasks required to the expected standard.
• Ensure that trade apprentices assigned to projects are given quality work experience and receive positive and appropriate guidance.
• Ensure that staff are aware of and follow company procedures, protocols and policies.
• Monitor time and attendance and individuals’ productivity and where necessary work with individual staff to make improvements.
• Document control and change management
• Ensure all necessary site documentation is filed and/or sent to the right personnel as required to effectively keep the site team informed.
• Keep up to date sets of contract drawings, specifications, and instructions in a tidy and good condition on site
• Maintain proper onsite document control procedures to ensure complete documentation of project activities.
• Assist Project Manager/QS in change control and promptly resolve any arising problems that may cause delays to the project’s completion.
• Maintain all operations and maintenance information from council sign off.
• Ensure an accurate and up to date diary is maintained on site which records progress against the current construction programme.

• Communication
• Lead weekly site coordination meetings with the project manager and other construction people, including carpenters, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Hold daily prestart meetings / weekly Toolbox meetings with staff to ensure all staff are aware of the targets to be achieved on a weekly basis and keeping them informed on general company news.
• Deliver the site induction ensuring the health and safety requirements of the site and companies’ values and ethics are delivered in a professional manner.

Carpentry Specific (applicable whilst managing labour only carpenters)

• Plan labour requirements to execute the work to programme and book labour from our provider
• Co-ordinate labour resources onsite to maintain programme, and labour productivity targets
• Co-ordinate with the Site Manager and Plant Manager for material and plant delivery and rubbish removal to maintain a productive workforce
• Accurately capture labour, materials and plant expended on variations via dayworks sheets
• Actively participate in our Quality Assurance programme
• Together with the Quantity Surveyor report on labour productivity and forecast future requirements
• Draft request for instruction notices (ROI’s)
• Attend daily pre-start meetings facilitated by the Site Manager
• Facilitate weekly carpentry team meetings
• Attend weekly co-ordination meetings facilitated by the Site Manger
• Manage Health and Safety of the carpentry workforce on site (with support from the HSQE Coordinator)

General role responsibilities for all employees

Health, Safety and Environment

• Fulfil individual duties for workplace health, safety, and environment (HSE) under applicable legislation
• Responsible for complying with the processes and standards described in the company HSE Management System
• Responsible for actively participating in HSE initiatives, training and other HSE programs
• Speak up if you have a reasonable concern relating the HSE
• Responsible for ensuring all incidents, injuries, near misses or other events (as defined by the company HSE Management System) are reported as in accordance with the HSE Management System
• Participate in incident investigations, including providing a statement of events
• Ensure active participation in any rehabilitation and return to work requirements under ACC
