Our direct experience, at both local and national levels, informs our services including analysis, capacity building, education, evaluation, facilitation, implementation, outreach, project management, research, and solutions development.Job description:Title: Departmental Specialist – Lead (Pb) Data Unit$27.62 – $41.22 / Posted Thru: 8-28-22Location: Remote/Virtual or Hybrid – Must Be a Michigan ResidentPurpose: The person in this position is responsible for overseeing the projects in the Lead Data Unit (LDU) within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Division of Environmental Health (DEH) which include managing multiple data systems, projects to streamline data flow, creation of a new case management module to link case management data to environmental data and improving quality assurance for the data as it flows through the systems. Analysis of data from the lead data applications will be used to provide data and information to identify programs and corrective actions to alleviate adverse health effects from exposure to lead and propose practices or policies based on findings that will promote public health.Duties and Responsibilities: * Participate in the design and management of the primary blood lead result processing application (“MiCLPS”). * Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention (CLPPP) project lead for the implementation of the electronic laboratory “blood lead message” project for automating laboratory reporting uploads to and exports from MiCLPS. * Participate in projects linking MiCLPS with Medicaid data. * Head projects to build a new Nursing Case Management module to replace the HHLPSS application. * Development and maintenance of continuum of care model for assessing children with elevated blood lead levels. * Review systems and assess how improvements to data flow and workflow can be incorporated. * Development of technical and business requirements for surveillance system process improvements. * Implement and enhance procedures to ensure that blood lead case reports submitted by laboratories meet standards for quality and completeness. * Implement and enhance procedures for ensuring consistency and accuracy of surveillance data as they flow through the surveillance system structure. * Perform data review in MIDSP application to identify duplicates and improve the matching of individuals within the blood lead database. * Author grant application for CDC cooperative agreement. * Prepare annual performance report narratives and continuation applications. * Gather data for outcome metrics. * Attend quarterly meetings and annual in-person meeting for cooperative agreement requirements. * Prepare routine statistical summary reports annually and for regularly scheduled data summary releases. * Develop and implement “report cards” for Medicaid health providers and laboratories that indicate the degree to which they are in compliance with legal and recommended standards for lead testing and reporting. * Make oral presentations on results of data analyses and special projects. * Compile and provide data to support program evaluation activities. * Work with MPHI evaluation team and MDHHS epidemiologists to format annual evaluation questionnaire. * Always represent the best interest of MDHHS and MPHI. * Other duties as assigned.Qualifications/RequirementsEducation: Possession of a bachelor’s degreeExperience: Four years of professional experience required.
