Our direct experience, at both local and national levels, informs our services including analysis, capacity building, education, evaluation, facilitation, implementation, outreach, project management, research, and solutions development.Job description:Title: Program Manager – Comprehensive Cancer Control $23.98 – $25.39 / Posted Thru: 8-14-22Location: Lansing, MIPurpose:The Program Manager will work with the Program Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Control (CCC) Program to foster cancer prevention, increase early detection and screening, and support cancer survivors with implementation of Michigan’s Cancer Plan. In addition the program manager will assist with implementation and reporting activities for the program, aimed at reducing the burden of cancer for all people by addressing health disparities through a commitment to collaboration with the Michigan Cancer Consortium (MCC), evidence-based practices, and improved quality of care.Duties and Responsibilities: * Support and promote communication and reporting activities aligned with the CDC Comprehsenive Cancer Control Program. This includes assisting with federally-funded program reporting using national platforms. * Assist with the coordination of Michigan Cancer Consortium partner engagement efforts with the planning of Board of Director Meetings and Membership Meetings. * Assist MCC Standing Workgroups with the implementation of workplan activities and assigned duties. * Assist MCC Priority Workgroups with the implementation of workplan activities and assigned duties. * Integrate health equity principles into Michigan Cancer Plan activities and MCC communication as it relates to the cancer continuuum, access to care, and also cancer care. * Coordinate and facilitate CCC team meetings. * Assist in the planning and implementation of webinars that support Michigan Cancer Plan activities. * Assist with implementation and evaluation of all program workplan activities. * Assist with policy, system, and environmental change activities. * Assist with sub-recipient monitoring of CCC contractors. * Work closely with other teams within the Cancer Prevention and Control Section. * Collaborate with local, state, and national partners. * Participate in trainings required by MPHI, MDHHS and CDC. * Promote, when indicated, communication that uses plain language principles. * Represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI at all times. * Other duties as assigned.Qualifications/Requirements:Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major is required. Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Health Education, one of the Behavioral Sciences, Public Administration, or Education is preferred. Experience: Two years of experience in health program planning; development; implementation; policy, system, and environmental change; and evaluation is desired. ImportantSkillsand Characteristics: * Strong communication skills (verbal and written) to present information in a clear, concise, and convincing manner. * Ability to engage community partners on collaborative efforts with the MCC. * Ability to use cultural humility in working with members of diverse communities and partners. * Strong organizational and problem solving skills. * Understanding of chronic diseases prevention methods. * Ability to use independent judgment and work as part of a team.Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Work location will be at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in the Cancer Prevention and Control Section currently at the Washington Square Building, 109 Michigan Avenue, Lansing, Michigan.
