A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience is required.
Degree equivalency
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Possession of a valid red-seal inter-provincial journeyperson’s certification as an Instrumentation and controls technician.
EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Experience in operating, installing, repairing, and calibrating controls for heating, ventilation, air conditioning or refrigeration systems.
EX2: Experience specific to system control strategies, system programming theory, building air quality and the function of building mechanical systems.
EX3: Experience calibrating, tuning, installing and programming EMCS systems and their components on-site and remotely through dial-up or LAN connections.
EX4: Experience in reading and manipulating building automation system (BAS) programming.
Operational Requirements:
OR1: Willing and able to work overtime
OR2: Willing and able to climb and work off ladders and work platforms (Genie lift platform)
OR3: Willing and able to work in confined spaces

Possession of a valid un-restricted Nova Scotia Class 5 Driver’s License or the equivalent in another province or territory.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring.
