Job Description

We are seeking applications for active, physically fit Conservation Rangers to carry out practical conservation work on a permanent basis. Hands-on field experience would be advantageous, although full training can be provided.

Desired Skills and Experience

Conservation tasks may include:

Pest animal, weed control, planting, re-vegetation and vegetation clearance
Maintenance of the local region’s recreational track network
Applying herbicides (potentially using a knapsack or tank sprayer on challenging terrain)
Using chainsaws, scrub cutters and light machinery

Suitable applicants will have:

Some knowledge / experience in the identification of native plants and the control of pest plants
A current driver’s licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles
High awareness and strong commitment to health and safety
A good level of physical fitness and able to do manual lifting / load carrying
A high degree of motivation with a positive attitude
Ability to carry out physical work in all weather conditions

There are also opportunities for Senior Conservation Rangers to lead, motivate and develop a small team. Individuals with previous fence building/ fence maintenance or agricultural experience are also encouraged to apply.
