We have a permanent full-time position available in our Wastewater Treatment Team based at the Nelson North Treatment Plant. For the right candidate this position has the potential to lead to further succession within the Treatment Team in a leadership role. Our dynamic team focuses on continual process improvement and optimisation, always looking to the future. Out of the box thinking and a positive can-do approach to problem solving is a must.

Key duties include:

• Ensuring optimal day to day operation of the treatment system (includes treatment plant, the associated pump stations and pressure reticulation network)
• Monitoring and optimising a system of oxidation ponds and wetlands
• Monitoring and trending of plant data and identifying abnormalities based upon laboratory, process data and site trend results
• Working alongside an experienced team of operators and mechanical engineers
• Problem solving of treatment and mechanical issues, developing initiatives to further optimise the treatment process
• Implementation of preventative maintenance programmes

Desired Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will ideally have:

• a Wastewater or equivalent qualification or working towards a Wastewater qualification – however full training will be provided for the right candidate
• experience in the field of water and/or wastewater monitoring
• excellent attention to detail and sound organisation skills
• a willingness and ability to work after hours
• the capability to work autonomously while also being a strong team player
• high levels of commitment to customer service
• a reliable approach to seeing the job through to completion
