This position will be integral in identifying institutions that mutually benefit from a dedicated solar project, creating relationships with the key decision makers at these institutions, and promoting the value propositions available to the school. The position will be the lead in delivering presentations to prospects, responding to RFPs, closing power purchase agreements, and negotiating with all parties involved. This will include collaboration with team members within Nelnet, our co-development partner, and other third party service providers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify and reach out to decision makers of educational institutions that are potential dedicated power off-takers. This role includes the direct selling of on-site or virtual solar renewable energy projects to universities and colleges throughout the U.S.
Prepare and present materials to promote awareness, education, and familiarity with the project, its timeline, value propositions, and next steps with a campus
Collaborate with Marketing to lead the design and creation of sales and promotional material for each client/project. Coordinate and conduct meetings/webinars for prospective colleges.
Responsible for meeting/exceeding revenue goals related to Higher-education renewable energy development and ownership
Develop a targeted sales plan focused on achieving revenue growth and sustainable cashflows within solar development
Respond to ad hoc questions and requests from schools, development partners, and team members
Manage relationships with key personnel at the school regarding project updates, reporting needs, curriculum delivery, and customer satisfaction
Assist with the company’s growth and focus in renewable energy – assist to create new ways to serve the customer, create value, and grow cash flows within the renewable energy space
Maintain and update contacts within the CRM system (Salesforce). Manage an expense account with defined parameters
Travel regularly and source meetings to expand the opportunity set
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years of distributed energy generation and/or utility scale solar project development experience. This individual understands how clean energy policy creates market opportunity and capitalizes on it. Experience working with higher-education institutions is a plus. Possess an aptitude for working with prospective clients through lengthy, sometimes complex sales cycles. Ability to assist in deliverables scoping and utility needs discovery to ensure the solutions sold are the solutions requested and required. Skill to immerse oneself into the client’s environment.

Colorado candidates: salary range is $120,000 to $200,000.
