Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology Looking for Service Desk Support at Nelson, Nelson Full Time

Our IT Services team is seeking Service Desk Support based on our Nelson Campus. This is a junior role but with a lot of hands-on hardware and software configuration involved with good career development opportunities, where you will be exposed to a wide verity of technologies including Microsoft desktop and server, Audio Visual and video conferencing technologies. You will have exposure to enterprise solutions from VMware virtualization through to Ruckus network infrastructure.

The key responsibilities include:

• assigning and responding to support IT helpdesk requests
• assisting with hardware and software configuration and installation
• supporting use of classroom audio visual and Video Conferencing equipment
• supporting asset management, including mobile devices
• assisting with project work as directed

You’ll be exposed to a large variety of environments and challenges. You will need to be highly adaptable with strong customer service skills and be a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude.

To be successful in this role you will need:

• a relevant tertiary qualification in computer engineering with at least 1 year working in a technical role, OR minimum 2 years proven experience in an enterprise service desk or similar position,
• in-depth knowledge supporting Microsoft products
• excellent communication and customer service skills
• the ability to work unsupervised and be a logical thinker
• be willing to learn new skills
• some knowledge of supporting Apply Mac products would be beneficial
