Position Summary

We are looking for a HR Manager based at our Confectionary (Chocolate) Factory reporting into the Director of Factory Operations. This role is accountable for providing complete Human Resources services to both hourly and salaried factory-based employees. In addition to your being a member of the leadership team at the site, you will be responsible for the people agenda within a unionized environment and act as the driving force behind creation and implementation of people plans aligned with business agenda. This role is seen as an expert in the field of People Performance & HR, including labour relations, to represent the complete HR Service / Value Chain.

A day in the life of…

As an HR Manager you will be responsible for key areas including employee engagement, labour relations, HR process management.

• Contribute to & Execute HR Strategy: Contribute to the execution of the business plan through the creation and implementation of the People Strategies that attract, develop and retain employees. Drive flawless execution of global, market and local HR Initiatives.
• Labour Relations: Internal consultant on labour relations issues and responsible for timely information on employee relation matters. Ensure appropriate interpretation, application, and administration of collective agreement. Oversee best practices and responsible fiscal management of grievances, arbitrations and other dispute resolution processes. Corporate & legal support is provided for labour negotiations & arbitrations.
• Organizational Design & Development (OD&D): Ensure people issues are a key consideration when discussing and planning business activities. Manage effective organizational transformation and change projects using best practice methodologies. Shape the culture to align with Nestlé goals & initiatives through supporting & coaching line managers in their implementation of core people processes.
• Performance & Talent Management : Ensure Performance and Talent Management drive the achievement of business goals through objective and development plan setting, performance calibration and talent development. Lead talent review/calibration to ensure high performance is rewarded and developed in line with the Management Development Cycle. Implement succession planning and talent management plans that support business goals.
• Employee Engagement: Establish and maintain effective win-win working relationships with managers, employees and their representatives through an environment that fosters communication and co-operation. Promote and foster a culture and environment that is productive, open, empowering, safe and equitable and coach others to behave and make decisions in line with Nestlé Management and Leadership Principles and Nestlé Corporate Business Principles.
• Factory HR Process: Accountable for successful delivery of recruitment and selection strategies for both Salaried and hourly staff. Oversee process compliance including Success Factors data accuracy, Governance of Employee Standards Act execution, Nestle Working Conditions Policy, and the Collective Agreement. Oversee payroll function and ensure role segregation, ensuring pay as per collective agreement and ESA, governance of payroll accuracy,pension and benefit enrollments as well as Kronos issues management, escalation and resolution.
• Factory Training and Compliance: Ensure compliance of total site to mandatory annual Compliance to work trainings on Nestle policies and procedures to ensure employee safety, product quality, and compliance. Lead skills forecast strategy and oversee execution as required to support production and ensure workforce sufficiently developed to support people plan, manage training governance and implement efficiencies in training processes.
• Health Centre: Oversee health centre operations including management of Employee medical related issues (claims, disability management and legal compliance, STD/LTD/WSIB, manage modified work and accomodation process), absenteeism management, rewards and recognition.

What will make you successful

As the successful candidate, you will need to be collaborative, action-oriented and understand how to work in a complex environment. You will already have great project management and analytical skills coupled with your highly organised, conscientious approach. You will ideally have:

• 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources in a unionized environment, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong experience in Labour Relations. Knowledge of employment law and its interpretation
• Experience with Learning & Development, Employee Relations, Compensation & Benefits, Recruitment/Resourcing, Performance Management.
• Experience in coaching and developing people.
• Experience working effectively with multiple stakeholders.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional manner, confidentiality and good judgment are essential.
• Proficiency with Windows based applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to master other HR specialized software (such as Success Factors, Taleo, Kronos, etc.).
• Professional HR designation and some industrial relations training a definite asset.
