POSITION SUMMARY:
Manage capital investment projects following Nestlé’s established capital investment policies and procedures through the project life cycle process (concept-to-closeout).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrate zero tolerance for unsafe conditions and implement any change – whether directly instructed to or under your own initiative – by considering its impact to people safety, product safety and quality, and to the environment. Never compromise safety.
2. Demonstrate high principles of ethical conduct on behalf of the company, community, consumer, and the engineering profession and all interactions are fair and competitive.
3. Implement transparent communication among project team members and stakeholders, including site principals, project steering committee, and corporate resources.
4. Ensure the project follows Nestlé Good Hygienic Engineering and meets industry acceptable Good Manufacturing Practices.
5. Ensure the project follows Nestlé Quality System and implements risk management for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points and other food safety requirements.
6. Protect Nestlé’s technological and proprietary knowledge.
7. Demonstrate corporate values and inculcate into the project culture, including Nestlé Corporate Business Principles and Nestlé Management and Leadership Guidelines.
Functional Responsibilities:
1. Interactively develop the project scope with key stakeholders and gain alignment on project deliverables in accordance with the business requirements.
2. Develop and manage the project budget, resources, and schedule necessary to complete the business requirements in a cost effective manner.
3. Develop and manage the project risk management matrix.
4. Ensure project governance for scope, costs, schedule, risks, and resources are in accordance with Nestlé Capital Investment Guidelines and Nestlé USA project management guidelines.
Project Life Cycle Responsibilities:
A. During the concept phase (feasibility & approval):
1) Ensure sustainable and long-term design with an adequate return on invested capital for the particular business;
2) Challenge the stakeholder requirements, project standards, and specifications and for actual business need.
B. During the design phase:
1) Ensure assets are appropriately designed and meet the business purpose by applying proven principles and thorough design reviews;
2) Leverage Value Engineering Analysis to challenge the design for optimal solutions;
3) Ensure the design is low cost, efficient, and reliable, while considering proven recent technology to advance Nestlé’s competitive advantage;
4) Ensure that mandatory safety and environmental standards are implemented and proactively manage non-compliance items.
C. During the implementation phase:
1) Ensure safe work sites;
2) Ensure the scope, deliverables, and milestones are clearly identified and delivered by engineering firms, contractors, and suppliers;
3) Use Nestlé USA project management guidelines to ensure successful vertical start-ups;
4) Publish routine monthly project progress reports;
5) Comply with Nestlé principles when procuring equipment and services, and managing contracts.
D. During the start-up/close out phase (commissioning/final report):
1) Ensure the project scope is delivered within the planned cost and schedule;
2) Ensure easy to operate, clean, and maintain equipment/systems with safe, consistent delivery of quality products;
3) Ensure operators, mechanics, electricians etc… are effectively trained and the equipment transferred to the factory efficiently including all support documentation;
5) Manage project expenditures allocation to defined assets and entry into site asset register;
6) Ensure preventive maintenance are established for all project equipment along with spare parts;
7) Complete project final report distribute to the key project stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
Degree/Diploma in Engineering Field. (Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering).
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 7+ years of significant experience and achievement in a technical field with a project engineering background.
Project Management and Process Engineering experience within the food and dairy, cosmetic, pharmaceutical or consumer products industry is a plus.
Supervisory experience in managing internal and external project team members or equivalent.
