New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) | Te Mana Ārai o Aotearoa protects New Zealand against threats to the border. Do you want to make a positive difference to the protection of New Zealand’s border from serious threats, the facilitation of legitimate trade and travel, and the collection of customs and excise revenue on behalf of the Crown?
We currently have on offer, a permanent full-time or we would be open to look at a 12 month fixed term contract, for an experienced Property and Procurement Manager, responsible for leading and mentoring our Wellington based Property and Procurement team.

The Property and Procurement Manager contributes to the strategic planning process including the production of the Services’ Strategic Procurement Outlook, Annual Procurement Plan and Extended Procurement Forecast along with Property Operational and Strategic planning documents.
In addition, you will be accountable for providing timely and accurate advice and support to business managers to ensure Customs demonstrates compliance with Government property and procurement policies, rules and guidelines in the sourcing of goods and services, whilst promoting open and effective competition between capable suppliers, and ensuring fair and transparent processes.
This is a strategic, tactical and operational role with ownership for developing, maintaining and supporting policy and process relating to property, purchasing and sourcing activities.
A key component of this role is having a high level of organisational awareness, being able to recognise directional change at the strategic level and consider the impacts of that change on procure-to-pay policy and outcomes.
We are seeking someone with previous leadership and procurement experience who has the drive and energy to get things done, along with the ability to connect with people.

To join Customs in any role you must be a New Zealand citizen or NZ permanent resident* and be able to obtain an organisational security clearance.
(*) A New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in New Zealand for the last 5 years and resides in NZ at time of application;
OR a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided in New Zealand for the last 5 years and resides in NZ at time of application, but may have been absent from New Zealand for periods of six or more months within the past five years, preferably in one or more of the following countries: either Australia, Canada, UK or the USA. You will be required to provide overseas police certificates for these periods spent outside of New Zealand.
