Applicants must be Australian or NZ citizens or hold Permanent Residency in New Zealand.

As an Immigration Officer you will be responsible for processing visa applications, a desk-based role (between the Manukau office and your home) where you’ll be taking the information available to you and using this to make sound decisions as you process visa applications. You will be interpreting immigration legislation, and utilising your proven analysis, judgement and decision-making abilities to make quality immigration decisions.

Not everyone has the ability to see below the surface of information presented. However, with your eye for detail and analytical skills complimented by your natural passion for New Zealand and enthusiasm for making positive changes, an exciting career within Immigration New Zealand could be waiting for you.

A background in caseload management would be very beneficial to this role, ensuring you are able to meet the key client management and operational requirements of this role.

At our Manukau site we currently process business products, which consist of migrant workers seeking work visas, and permanent residency. This is a fast paced, high-volume environment, and your strengths will lie in your ability to rationalise and make decisions, while prioritising your clients’ applications.

• Recent experience in a high-performance service delivery environment; including caseload management * Great verbal and written communication skills, with proven expertise conveying concepts, and information clearly and concisely to any variable audience * Computer literacy and aptitude in MS Office applications, and technology in general * Experience in a processing environment * Time management ability to effectively manage workflow demands and case loads * Flexible with working with multiple priorities and able to adapt to change on short notice * The ability to learn and apply new learning * A strong moral compass, and be known to ‘act with integrity’ in all you undertake * A relevant tertiary qualification is advantageous but not essential * The motivation and willingness to make a positive difference as a proactive team member * Proficiency in an Asian language would be advantageous but not essential

Flexible Working Arrangements within MBIE

• Work your hours in 9 days over two weeks which will allow you to enjoy a weekday off every fortnight. * Work your hours in 4 working days and have a 4-day work week. * We provide you the equipment you need to allow you work at home – but note there will still be a requirement to work in the office a few days a week. * The office opens at 6am and closes at 6pm. You can arrive any time before 9:30am, work your hours and go home for the day. There is no requirement to start at the same time every day – great for those that need to drop-off/pick-up kids!

Recruitment Process:
