At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

• Giving priority to regional and local voice.
• Delivering greater responsiveness, accessibility and integrated services and support.

About our group and team

The Parent Information Community Intelligence (PICI) group designs and drives initiatives that support parents, whānau, hapū, iwi, employers, and communities (demand side groups) to positively influence our education system and help every New Zealander learn, progress and achieve.

Families are the most powerful influence on a child’s progression and achievement. Building powerful partnerships between whānau, employers, communities and educators will help raise aspirations and lift progress and achievement for all learners. We design and deliver initiatives and programmes that support these partnerships with a focus on tamariki the education system has not served well – Māori, Pacific and disabled learners and whānau in particular.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

The Business Support Advisor ensures the efficient management of workflow and day to day operations through providing support across the wider Te Hurihanganui team.

This role will be responsible for working collaboratively across the team to coordinate and manage process, systems and business services.

Mōhou ake | About you

We are looking for people who:

• are passionate about improving outcomes for ākonga Māori and their whānau
• have previous experience providing administrative/coordination support
• have a practical understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
• have a collaborative working style with a drive to deliver results
• high level of attention to detail and time management ability
• are able to write and converse in Te Reo Māori at a beginner level
