Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the Role
The Infringements Officer reports to the Team Leader Infringements and is part of the wider Prosecutions and Legal Services team. The Infringements team is a small one and requires a high level of responsibility and autonomy as the position is often a sole charge one.
This role is based in Auckland but has wide ranging contact and responsibility from the upper North to the deepest South of Aotearoa. This is an ideal role for someone looking to extend their legal knowledge working directly with the front-line compliance officers who issue infringement notices to alleged offenders. The team cover infringements across multiple directorates such as Border Clearance, Fisheries Compliance & Animal Welfare Compliance. We issue on behalf of the RNZSPCA and NAIT.
Once the front-line officers become aware of an offence being committed and issue an infringement notice to an offender, we take over the process. We receive calls or correspondence disputing the infringement, take payments, issue reminder notices, or prepare documents for a hearing or referral for collection action with the Courts.
