About the role:

We have a fantastic, permanent full-time opportunity to join the Immigration Investigation team. We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated person who is eager to work as part of a dynamic, hardworking team in a fast paced environment based in our Auckland branch.

Investigations sit within the Verification and Compliance branch of Immigration NZ. We are tasked with undertaking investigations in relation to immigration offending. We are part of a wider group of regulators including Compliance and Risk and Verification Officers who are all working to prevent immigration related offending and maintain the integrity of the immigration system.

Skills and experience required:

• Excellent communication skills, ability to manage risk and maintain confidentiality with sensitive issues * An analytical thinker with experience in planning and undertaking complex criminal investigations and prosecutions, especially fraud, in a team environment * Sound understanding and application of NZ legislation in investigation and prosecution processes e.g. Criminal Procedures Act, Rules of Evidence, Bill of Rights, Official Information & Privacy Acts etc. * Demonstrated planning and organising skills including the ability to maintain a high level of performance when under pressure * A demonstrated knowledge and application of modern investigation techniques including the use of IT software e.g. computer forensics * Proven ability to develop trust and credibility with managers and staff * Tertiary qualification, preferably in law enforcement, and/or comparable relevant experience in investigation and prosecution related work * The ability to gain and maintain a national security clearance as required
