Judges Personal Assistant (Full time, permanent)

We’re looking for an experienced Personal Assistant (or someone with comparable experience) to provide professional secretarial and administrative support to the Judges of Wellington District Court. You will support the judiciary on a one-to-one basis with a variety of tasks relating to the Judges’ work schedules.

He pūkenga tou/Skills and Experience

The Judges’ PA is the main conduit for the judiciary for all communication coming into Chambers; managing Judges’ diaries; arranging Judges’ travel and accommodation for matters such as Court hearings, conferences and seminars; preparing documentation including judgments, Court minutes, presentations, minutes of meetings and reports; organising venue bookings and catering for conferences when required; and assisting visitors to the Chambers area.

This role demands high levels of attention to detail and the ability to respond to and manage conflicting priorities. Therefore, effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines are key requirements.

In addition to proven admin/secretarial experience you will be able to demonstrate that you have:

• Excellent Microsoft Windows suite skills;
• Confidence in and/or ability to use Te Reo me ōna Tikanga Māori in the workplace;
• an understanding of, and an ability to explain, the work and practices of the Māori Land Court and the Waitangi Tribunal and/or experience in a legal environment

Courts and Tribunals Regional Service Delivery supports face-to-face service delivery through four regions. This team includes services provided to all national courts and tribunals, with the exception of the senior courts

The remuneration band for this role is $50,128 to $70,768– while the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience, we are willing to pay higher in the band to attract strong candidates into this role.
