Newtown Acupuncture Centre Looking for Massage Therapist at Wellington City, Wellington Full Time

This massage role requires full-time 40 hours work per week as a massage therapist. This includes treating patients who are also being seen by our acupuncture staff, as well as coming in for massage independently. A mixed and proven skillset in a range of massage techniques is necessary, with confidence in Tui Na (Chinese massage from Chinese medicine), deep tissue, sports, relaxation and myofascial release. Trigger point needling certificates would be a real bonus.

When not booked with clients, the therapist will be engaged in a range of supportive jobs including marketing, administration, cleaning, restocking, upskilling.

In an ideal situation, the candidate would have some additional skills that would allow them to take on some of the responsibilities of our other main massage therapist, which includes

– Teaching the public basic massage techniques for home use

– Teaching Chinese martial arts (Ideally Bei Shaolin Wushu and Sanda)

– Ability and knowledge about exercises to improve patient health as we work with lots of people with injuries and in a recovery process, so they sometimes book for one an one stretching classes, Qigong classes, meditation class, etc. Having someone who could expand on these services we already provide would be highly valued.

We require candidates to have either

1. Studied massage or an advanced body work qualification here in NZ or

2. Has the equivalent of a health science degree from another country that shows their advanced knowledge in anatomy and physiology.

3. 3 + years of experience as a massage therapist or similar role.

Note: Massage work when done full time can be very taxing and requires ongoing conditioning and self care to maintain good health. Please apply if you feel your hands, arms and back are able to perform this role.

Salary: $58,000.00 per year
