As a key member of our security engineering team supporting the greater Security Operations Team, you will have responsibility for developing new and maintaining existing internal software projects, including software automation for testing and deployment, as well as operation needs such as deployment and monitoring of underlying infrastructure on AWS.

The successful candidate will have documented experience and proven ability to develop small software projects using Python and JavaScript, with code and documentation stored in git-based version control, and the use of automated test and deployment pipelines integrated as part of the develop process.

What you will deliver:

• Develop and improve tooling to proactively detect, analyse and respond to security and operational risks.
• Develop and improve tooling to automate and integrate in-house, commercial and open-source solutions to enable efficient, effective delivery of services to our customers.
• Help to define and improve the software engineering discipline within Equate, assisting in scaling the capability and team as the company grows.
• Improve operations by conducting systems analysis, recommending changes in policies and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with technical experts in house, within the community and at vendors to effectively mitigate risks, resolve issues and deliver innovative solutions.

Day to day activities:

• Operate autonomously and as part of a wider team to deliver solutions for our client base.
• Define, build and implement in-house solutions, integrated with commercial and open-source tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities, automate repeatable tasks and improve the Equate security operations product and services.
• Develop and implement continuous integration and delivery capabilities, whilst integrating best-practice security methodologies.
• Contribute to our implementation of infrastructure-as-code solutions to enable reliable, rapid deployment of security and technology solutions across on-prem, hybrid and public cloud environments.
• Collaborate with the team to understand requirements and opportunities.
• Maintain industry and technology certifications and operate with a willingness to continue training and learning.
• Respond effectively to operational incidents, threats and risks.

About you:

• 5+ years of experience as software developer and/or infrastructure automation engineer
• Experience using git-based code version control systems, including SaaS services such as GitHub, Atlassian BitBucket or GitLab
• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes based container technology
• Proven significant experience working with REST API’s and integrating systems using REST API based calls. e.g., including “Webhook” based notifications, and OAuth2.0 based authentication flow
• Operational responsibility for software infrastructure and underlying cloud native components
• Software development capability using bash shell, Python and JavaScript.
• Use of Postman collections for interaction with modern REST API’s

Desirable experience:

• training, experience, or knowledge regarding cyber security is highly relevant.
• Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) components
• developing complex API automation capabilities using Postman
• deploying and maintaining AWS based application infrastructure
• developing Terraform provisioning plans
• Integration of software problem alerting and telemetry-based reporting capabilities using Atlassian OpsGenie and/or JIRA
• Development of new SIEM based log and data collection capabilities
• Creation or update of container build definitions, e.g., Dockerfile and/or docker-compose
• developing software using modern languages not listed under “Our Ideal Candidate”, e.g. Go, Scala, Rust, C# etc
