We currently have a great opportunity for a Graduate Software Engineer with solid academic accomplishments to join our team of software engineers at our Research & Development office in the Newcastle office.

This is an entry-level position working in a small agile team investigating, directing and supporting a range of software architectures and development activities.

• Application development of Software as a Service applications, supporting APIs and tools.

• Ensure all code is tested as part of development tasks.

• Defect investigation and other software maintenance activities.

• Work with mentor to become familiar with NextGen.Net products, development environment, tools and processes by working on preliminary project tasks.

What you need:

• Experience with or exposure to object oriented development languages, for example: Java, C#, C++.

• Experience with or exposure to JavaEE or .Net frameworks.

• Demonstrable skills through university results and project work.

• Unrestricted work rights in Australia.

What would be nice

• Experience with or exposure to relational databases and SQL scripting.

• Experience with NOSQL data stores (CouchDB, MongoDB, Cassandra or similar).

• Experience with High Availability object stores (OpenStack Swift, S3 or similar).

• Experience with JavaEE servers such as Glassfish.

• Familiarity with XML/XSD/XSLT/SOAP or JSON/JSONSchema/JavaScript/REST/OpenAPI.

• Experience with Map/Reduce or other web scale data analysis techniques and tools.

• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes.

• An understanding and practical experience in testing code.
