The Software Engineer role will deliver a pipeline of new products and features within the Product Innovation team. We are technology agnostic and feel that the tech that is used should be the tech that will get the job done best. However, with 27 years of extraordinary success, which has led NextGen to the forefront of automating the mortgage lending industry, comes 27 years of technical complexity that take extraordinary problem solvers to wrangle. We’re not just looking for full stack enthusiasts, were looking for those who look to make the complex simple and take a roll-the-sleeves up attitude to improvement.

Application Development:

• Complete assigned development tasks to the technical specification;
• Understand and implement our standards for:
  • Agile processes
  • Development practices
  • Source code management
  • Testing & Peer Review
• Investigate and remediate assigned defects, help tickets etc;
• Champion NextGen agile development processes;
• Work with the Technical Lead to translate user stories into well defined development tasks and technical specifications;
• Develop code meeting business and functional requirements as articulated in business user stories.

What we are looking for:

• Strong commercial experience in software engineering
• Deep full stack JavaScript experience/capability – not too worried about which libraries/frameworks
• Experience working with JavaScript build tools including Webpack, Gulp and Browserfy
• Experience with API development such as REST, GraphQL
• Deep understanding of how to produce well tested, clean, maintainable code
• Practical experience using an Agile Development Methodology.
• Any experience with server-side development such as NodeJS, PHP, JSP, Classic ASP will we well regarded but not essential.
• Any experience using Redux well regarded but not essential;
