We are seeking a General Practitioner to join our expanding and supportive teaching team. This post provides an opportunity develop an educational interest and build that into a portfolio career. Training, support and career development will be provided to the successful candidate. Informal discussions are encouraged in respect of the role.
The post holder will join the Highland Medical Education team, working closely with the University of Aberdeen’s Director of Teaching (Highland) and the NHS Highland Director of Medical Education to support primary care placements and teaching for Year 4 students.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience of GP/undergraduate teaching. The candidate will be encouraged and supported to develop skills in the delivery, development and management of teaching.
General Practice teaching is a key speciality in undergraduate medical teaching at the University of Aberdeen, with a new “GP Enhanced” programme having support throughout the University and at a national level. This is an exciting time to consider a position working with both the NHSH and UoA GP teaching teams, with significant activity maintaining existing strong community teaching and developing novel teaching methods
The post holder will assist the NHSH and University teams in planning strategies together to strengthen the sustainability of teaching in the community in across Highland.
The applicant will develop strong relationships with numerous practices providing teaching for the University of Aberdeen, and work with NHS Highland to establish capacity and resilience of GP teaching in Highland. They will work within the team to develop, deliver and assess additional teaching including core week student teaching.
The successful candidate will be a general practitioner working or with recent experience in a General Practice or Community Care setting. They will also have experience and an interest in teaching and medical education. They will fulfil the criteria for the GMC Recognition and Approval of trainers.
Salary will be paid on the Clinical GP salary scale (20% of £90,488 per annum).
