POSITION SUMMARY: Performs secretarial duties for all departments. Will be required to work holidays, weekends and rotate shifts as necessary.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
A. Job Knowledge and Role Responsibilities:
Demonstrates knowledge of age specific factors to adult and geriatric residents.
Attends all mandatory inservices by employee’s anniversary date.
Acts appropriately under the direction of the Administrative Assistant and acts as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in shift assignments to meet facility needs.
Successfully completes facility conducted orientation and mandatory training within the Introductory Period.
Handles all telephone, intercom and paging system operations.
Processes typing and computer work for all departments, requiring general knowledge of all departmental operations.
Handles all mail for residents and deliver it to their units. Sort facility mail, put in proper mail boxes.
Maintains rolodex, resident list and resident mail instructions.
Greets and assists visitors with signing the visitor book.
Completes the missing items report
Attend appropriate inservices.
Ensure the safety of residents in the reception area.
Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program when performing work functions.
B. Role Responsibilities – Interpersonal Skills:
Is aware of, and adheres to, Resident’s Bill of Rights and Confidentiality of Resident Information.
Interacts with residents, family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillary staff in a non-judgmental, supportive and calm manner.
Addresses family satisfaction issues immediately and assists in resolving the matter in a professional manner.
Is aware of Resident Abuse Reporting Law.
Participates as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates a positive, helpful and enthusiastic attitude.
C. Role Responsibilities – Safety:
Demonstrates ability to locate emergency equipment (i.e. fire extinguisher, emergency oxygen tank, etc.).
Understands and can demonstrate knowledge of role in Fire and Disaster drills.
Demonstrates ability to identify and respond appropriately to potential behavioral outbursts.
Uses facility equipment safely.
Recognizes, removes and/or reports potential hazards.
Follows established safety rules/accident prevention.
Keep updated on the fire/disaster policies and react appropriately to fire/disaster drills per policy manuals.
D. Resident Care Responsibilities – Infection Control:
Demonstrates proper handwashing techniques, as appropriate.
Disposes of waste properly.
E. Resident Care Responsibilities – Resident Dignity:
Addresses residents in a respectful manner.
Discusses confidential resident information in appropriate areas only.
F. Other duties as assigned by the Administrative Assistant.
