Job Title: Communications and Administrative Lead

Reports to: Executive Lead

Status: Temporary Full-Time (6 month contract) Sept/21 – March 31/2022

Salary: $35.00 per hour to $40.00 per hour (35 hour/week)

The Nipissing Wellness Ontario Health Team (NW OHT) has formed in response to the Ministry of Health’s ongoing restructuring of our provincial healthcare system. To date we are a collaborative group of 30+ partners and affiliates who are working together with patients, families and caregivers, to enhance healthcare across the Nipissing region. We are looking to hire a team oriented, motivated individual with a working knowledge of our healthcare system to be our Communications and Administrative Lead. The successful candidate will work alongside the NW OHT Executive Lead and play a key role in supporting internal and external communications, as well as provide essential administrative support to our working groups and our Collaborative Council.

Responsibilities:

• Support the creation of a NW OHT communication strategy
• Ensure accurate and comprehensive web content to engage and inform our stakeholders
• Develop a strong online presence by maintaining the NW OHT website and creating a social media presence
• Plan, organize, and implement internal and external communication plans and activities. This includes researching, writing, and editing content for materials such as quarterly newsletters, external press releases, press conferences, in-house publications, project reports, audio-visual, etc.
• Be the direct contact for all media related inquiries and facilitate interviews with the appropriate spokesperson(s).
• Support the organization and execution of town hall style meetings, and other events, to engage the public and regional partners in the work of the NW OHT
• Organize and oversee logistics for events
• Work in close collaboration with NW OHT Executive Lead and Project Manager
• Provide administrative support to the Collaborative Council and various working groups
• Support the Executive Lead with setting meetings, creating meeting agendas, and presentations
• Complete meeting minutes and share with participants
• Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

• Undergraduate Degree in communications/public relations, English, journalism, marketing, public health, healthcare administration, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

· A minimum of 1-2 years working in public relations or communications.

Skills:

• Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy with diverse groups of stakeholders, including patients, front-line healthcare providers, community agencies, and healthcare administrators.
• Demonstrated ability to write and edit clear, engaging, and grammatically correct content targeted to different audiences.
• The ability to multitask and set priorities, managing time effectively.
• Possesses a high level of accountability and proven capability to identify opportunities, take initiative, and think through future implications.
• Maintain a project calendar and deliver communications within assigned deadlines.
• Success in applying critical thinking and project management skills to the communication planning process.
• Creative, professional, self-motivated and constantly looking to implement best practices in all areas of communications.
• Demonstrated advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office – PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Adobe products).
• Previous, relevant experience in healthcare context.
• Graphic design skills and video/multimedia production considered an asset.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both official languages preferred
• Demonstrated awareness of First Nations / Inuit / Metis culture and communication needs
• Understanding of, and commitment to, the NW OHT’s vision and values

Contract length: 7 months
