NAPS is looking to hire one civilian to fill the full-time permanent non-union position of Human Resources Assistant at General Headquarters in Thunder Bay, ON.

Purpose
The Human Resources Assistant will assist the Human Resources Department
with a variety of duties including but not limited to: administrative support, recruitment and retention, labour relations, health and safety, and policy maintenance.

Qualifications

• Two (2) year Diploma in Human Resources or equivalent
• Two (2) years’ experience working in a Human Resources setting (experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset);
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent organization skills;
• Ability to work independently;
• Basic knowledge of the Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act and the Ontario Health and Safety Act is required
• Health and Safety Worker Training Part 1 and Part 2 is considered an asset;
• Previous experience in a non-profit or Indigenous organization is considered an asset.

Requirements

• Typing at 45 wpm;
• Ability to travel on short notice by all modes of transportation to urban and remote northern communities is required;
• Must be able to pass a background check and produce a satisfactory criminal record check including the vulnerable sector screen.
