The Regulatory Analyst will be responsible for the development, preparation and implementation of regulatory filings, studies, rates, tariffs and plans for the NiSource companies to ensure rates that are competitive, profitable, and comply with regulatory policies and guidelines. Responsibilities include the preparation of compliance filings, comprehensive data analyses, analytical studies, documentation, and testimony to support regulatory proceedings, rates and cost of service. The Regulatory Analyst will support accurate, timely and innovative regulatory initiatives, including but not limited to: regulatory rate case filings, tariff filings, discovery responses, regulatory asset accounting, data analysis, analytical studies, sales support, utility capital structure and gas cost recovery filings along with special contract development support and filings. Works closely with State Policy Team, Operations, Accounting, Tax, Customer Operations, Financial Planning and Legal.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for preparing and implementing regulatory filings in various proceedings, including the development of schedules, exhibits, documentation, reporting, work papers, discovery responses and testimony.
Develop and support various studies, analyses, cost allocation studies, innovative and revenue-enhancing rate designs and research in support of developing solutions to address regulatory issues and filings.
Develops and implements trackers for total and timely recovery of gas cost, capital expenditures and other costs.
Maintains ongoing regulatory reporting initiatives.
Researches and analyzes commission orders and other regulatory-related financial information
Implements Orders to ensure compliance with tariffs, regulations, and regulatory orders, including timely and accurate development, interpretation and input of billing rates for customers.
Provides expert tariff administration, interpretation, and support, including regulatory consulting advice.
Develop, monitor and perform testing of internal controls; Ensures compliance with internal controls and reporting requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
Prepares and/or provides expert testimony in support of regulatory, rate and contract filings and participates in related negotiations.
Evaluates Regulatory processes for continual improvement opportunities to more efficiently and effectively deliver value.
Communicates essential information to team and state regulatory staffs.
Required Qualifications for Regulatory Analyst Position
Requires BS/BA in accounting, finance, or other business discipline
Knowledge of PC applications
Ability to perform above duties under close supervision
Strong attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to deliver results
All Regulatory Analyst levels
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or other related fields
Requires knowledge of PC applications
Senior Regulatory Analyst
2+ years of experience in finance, accounting, regulatory or a related field

Lead Regulatory Analyst
4+ years or more experience in finance, accounting, regulatory or a related field
