About the Role:

If you are a strong software engineer with good hands-on experience in Big Data technologies and who has worked end-to-end in application development? Join an energetic, fast-paced and dynamic technology team that develops and maintains regulatory reporting systems.

The Big Data Engineer or Consultant will directly report to Phil Peluso. In this position, you will join a technology team implementing platform enhancements and data-related

solutions to address operational and regulatory reporting risk in support of Economic and Financial Statistics (EFS) suite of returns.

The role will require high-volume and develop robust and scalable analytics processing applications.

You will need to implement data integration pipelines that operate with maximum throughput and minimum latency. You will need to draw on your knowledge of solving big data analytics use cases and frameworks for managing high-volume data processing and analytics.

In this position, you will be responsible for providing insights to clients. To do so, you will first meet with our clients to uncover their business needs and challenges. Then, you will use your strong analytical skills to perform quantitative and observational data analyses. From these analyses, you will form and present your recommendations to our clients.

The primary responsibilities of the position will include:

• Assist with client requests to interpret and implement regulatory requirements through defining data models, mapping shorthand and defining /building reports in the Moody’s Analytics solution throughout the programme.
• Participate in design workshops and contributions of ideas to the end solution design.
• Produce creative solutions to client requirements and problems, and make functional and technical enhancements to resolve customer problems.
• Interface with system users to define technical applications requirements including system modifications and subsequently record any;
• Be responsible for translating functional specifications for the technical development team and supporting team in the overall development and testing process.
• Help clients to interpret regulatory requirements, and map their internal data to required mapping requirement logic.
• Be responsible for installation and upgrading of new and existing reporting solutions for customers – including integration of multiple 3rd parties and in-house applications with their software solutions in areas pertaining to regulatory reporting.
• Be responsible for the support and maintenance of Moody’s Analytics products /applications both on-site and off-site, for customers.
• Find alternative solutions for software bugs and makes technical enhancements to resolve customer problems and configure environments whenever required.

Interface with system users to define technical applications requirements including:

• Participate in the evaluation of the technical enhancements and effectively document technical issues.
• Write and maintain documentation to describe developments, logic, coding, testing, changes and corrections.
• Provide on-site and phone support for clients’ technical requests.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Strong database/SQL knowledge.
• Good experience in programming (PLSQL/C/C++/Java)
• Strong knowledge of Unix/Shell scripting.
• Understanding of financial markets and products.
• Knowledge of scheduling tools (Control M, Autosys etc)
• Knowledge of XML and good experience in Java.
• Knowledge of SED/AWK/PERL.
• Experience in regulatory reporting highly valued.
• Strong knowledge of financial instruments and products from banking and accounting perspective.

The job will require the candidate to work from Sydney and sometimes from the head office in Melbourne.
