KD Analytical, a subsidiary of Noble, was founded in 2003 to provide high quality customized training/support to the emerging Military First Responder and the Homeland Defense Community. The staff has over 75 years of combined experience training, supporting and serving the military first responder program and 200 years combined experience supporting and running high-end analytical equipment. The staff is dedicated to supporting, training and innovating existing and emerging technologies in the Homeland Defense community, Environmental Investigations and direct-to-consumer applications.

Position Summary

The Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and support of existing and new commercial software applications. This role will regularly collaborate with other software engineers, infrastructure engineers, and product managers to ensure solutions are both effective and secure.

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and how they translate to application features, iterations, and release plans
• Collaborate with a team of IT professionals to set/follow specifications for new features/functions
• Write high-quality source code to meet product specifications and deadlines
• Perform unit and integration testing before release
• Conduct functional and non-functional testing, including development and maintenance of application test plans
• Design application enhancements / projects to comply with NIST and other development standards
• Troubleshoot and debug application
• Lead small to mid-size application development projects following standard project life cycle
• Follow application change management and promotion policies
• Participate in peer project / code reviews
• Evaluate existing applications to add new features and to update/refactor existing features
• Create and maintain technical documentation to accurately represent application architecture and design
• Participate in annual disaster recovery planning and testing
• Collaborate with third-party service providers supporting core infrastructure

• Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write technical documentation and guides
• Ability to present technical information to non-technical team members and stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner
• Ability and desire to learn and grow as a software engineer

Education And Experience

• 2-4 years experience in backend development using C# and .NET (Framework, Core, or 5+)
• 2-4 years experience in frontend development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• 2-4 years experience with Microsoft SQL Server (or other SQL-based RDBMS)
• 2-4 years experience with Git
• 2-4 years experience with Agile development methodologies
• Experience with CI/CD and automation tools (Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or similar)
• Experience with any major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) or a desire to learn
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred
