As the Lead Software Engineer you will be developing best in class software solutions which are core to Noggin’s vision of helping our customers. To do so, we need the best and the brightest Software Engineers to provide leadership and software engineering skills and experience to research, design, build, maintain, and support the implementation and operation of our products and services using the latest tech stack.
What does it take to become a Noggin?
As the Lead Software Engineer you and your team will be driving large, complex backend software projects all the way from technical design to development, testing and launch and being fully responsible for the features and projects along the way. To ensure you, and your team, are producing the best possible code, you will lead code reviews & documentation as well as take on complex bug fixes, especially on high-risk problems that may arise in the platform.
You will also mentor other developers, by using your experience and skills to increase the standard and help them tackle complex architecture challenges. You will apply architectural standards and start using them on new projects while constantly considering the customer impact when making technical decisions to ensure the product we are delivering solves their problems in the simplest way possible.
In terms of technical experience for this role you will need to have;

• Strong commercial experience working with PHP, solving complex, architecturally challenging software problems using PHP as your primary language
• Experience with Test Driven development with a particular focus on Unit Testing in PHP
• You will also be working with the latest technologies such as DynamoDB, Elastic Search, Redis, Docker etc.

What does success look like in this role?
In the first month, you will have become fully up to speed with our systems, teams and processes and understand how you and your team can make an impact on the success of delivery and our products.
By month 3 you will have delivered some incredible and complex solutions with your team and started to identify where improvements can be made in our products and processes. You will also be seen as the person who removes any roadblocks for your team to achieve success
6 months in, You, and your team, are a high performing and crucial part of technology & product who readily share your knowledge and experience with your peers and the broader business. You will see all your hard work come to life in the delivery of a truly exceptional product to market.
