North Power NZ Looking for Labourer at Auckland City, Auckland Full Time

Northpower is an electricity and fibre network provider for Whangarei and Kaipara, with more than 60,000 connected customers. We also provide contracting services to our partners – other network owners and operators across the North Island.

We have over 1,300 staff working together across 13 locations to keep the power on and the lights going for our customers.

Due to growth, we are on a hunt for Labourers/ Utility Workers to join our Auckland team. This role would predominantly be helping the sub-division and electrical teams with a range of tasks required for a smooth running of field operations.

The role

Reporting to the Supervisor, your safety and that of others around you is your number one priority in this role. You’ll assist the team with cable laying and construction, maintenance work and lifting of poles. You will also:

• Transport materials to and fro from sites and do site preparation and post-job clean-up
• Carry out hazard identification, underground obstructions and set up safe site to relevant Safe Work Practices
• Perform manual labouring tasks like excavating, backfilling, equipment and cable installation
• Discuss worksite safety risks identified at the site with the supervisors and project managers and the effective controls to mitigate risks

About you

You’ll be working on a variety of exciting projects and be someone who enjoys getting stuck in to get the job done. You’re willing to proactively support the team to undertake work activities without being told. To be successful in this role, you will also have:

• Full class 2 is essential & 4 is preferable
• At least 2 years’ experience with labouring and be able to lift heavy weights up to 20Kg
• Wheels, Tracks and Rollers (WTR) with a forklift licence are an advantage, but not essential
• A great work attitude and willingness to be part of a diverse team along with a strong focus to health & safety
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and communicate well
