You will also identify funding opportunities, be involved in the preparation of funding bids and assist with the development of transport strategy and policy for the County Council. It’s an exciting time to join our Highways service, we’re an innovative council continually looking at ways to improve the lives of the residents of North Yorkshire and take a lead role in the county council’s involvement with Transport for the North. We are currently involved in preparing cycling and walking infrastructure plans, projects looking at establishing electric vehicle charging points in North Yorkshire through to being in the final stages of developing the business case for the £40m A59 diversion at Kex Gill.
You will have a varied workload as well as having the opportunity to be involved with the future of transport in North Yorkshire as we move towards a low carbon era. You may not be on the frontline but you will achieve a sense of pride that you have contributed to the making a difference.

North Yorkshire as a county brings challenge; our remote extensive highways infrastructure vital to thriving rural communities is at the mercy of increasingly severe weather, in particular flooding. In response, our true Yorkshire grit, ingenuity and resilience enables our communities to quickly bounce back with support from our highways teams and partnerships; reconnecting roads, bridges and infrastructure swiftly and safely. Our highways asset has enabled us to host the Tour de France, its legacy the Tour de Yorkshire and the UCI World Championships and all the challenge and achievement that comes with hosting these world class events.
