The post holder will need excellent verbal and written communication skills to establish strong working relationships with medical students, non-consultant doctors in training and external and internal stakeholders, and to provide support and advice to students and educators on the latest guidance from our partner medical schools, the GMC, Health Education England, the foundation school etc. The successful candidate will need to have excellent communication, organisation and IT skills.
You will need to enjoy working as part of a team in a fast paced, challenging environment, and be adaptable to change as well as being able to manage your own workload.

To provide a comprehensive administration service to support medical education within the Trust.
To maintain effective information systems to ensure the Trust meets national guidelines in medical education.
To work collaboratively with the Medical Education Team to ensure effective delivery of its core activities.
There is an exciting opportunity to join the Medical Education team as Education Co-ordinator to support the development of the best possible learning environment for doctors in training, locally employed doctors and consultants across the Trust.
The Medical education Department is an integral part of the Trust, with a significant role in supporting our goal to achieving university hospital status as laid out in the trusts academic ambition. The team are responsible for ensuring non-consultant doctors and medical students are supported in their training through quality clinical placements within the Trust

Assist in maintaining the Medical Student database to ensure an accurate record of medical student allocations and Consultant Supervisors as required by Leicester and Oxford Medical Schools
Responsible for producing complex reports to facilitate the completion of returns required by the Leicester and Oxford Medical Schools and the Trust’s finance department
Responsible for completing end of block student assessment forms and returning the results to the Medical School to tight deadlines
Liaise and negotiate with consultants named as Block Leads and Student Supervisors and to ensure they are trained to the standard specified by the GMC
Establish and maintain robust working relationships with Leicester and Oxford Medical School, the Senior Education Team, Directorate Educational Leads, Block and Student Supervisors, Consultants, and other departments in the Trust
To be responsible for planning and organising medical student placements, including notifying Block Leads and student accommodation.
To organise and deliver the medical student inductions to groups of up to fifty students at a time.
Liaise with the consultant Block Leads to plan and organise the teaching programmes for the student blocks.
Plan and organise the teaching programmes for the student blocks allocated. Organising consultants to cover the topics as required by the Medical Schools’ curriculum and the Trust and ensuring accurate records of attendance are kept, monitored, and reported to the medical school
Monitor and evaluate feedback from the medical student teaching, highlighting any issues and suggested improvements to the Medical Education Manager and Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies
Organise and invigilate the exams and OCSEs for students on placement from Leicester Medical School when required, in line with the Medical School curriculum
Work actively with the Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies to improve the quality of the medical student teaching programmes
Support all medical students to ensure they meet the training outcomes prescribed by Leicester and Oxford Medical Schools
Responsible for monitoring student attendance and progress. Following up those who are at risk of falling behind the required objectives and referring to the Medical Education Manager and Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies if necessary
Provide initial pastoral care for all medical students recognising the need to escalate to senior staff when necessary
To produce and update student email distribution lists for use by the PGMC team and the Block Leads
Provide support and advice to medical students and trainers on Leicester and Oxford Medical School Policies regarding attendance, training and education etc.
Provide and receive complex, sensitive, and confidential information dealing with queries relating to medical students and medical education
Monitoring and taking the initiative to adapt the administrative processes required to deliver the main purpose of the post
Manage own workload to ensure deadlines are met and quality is not compromised. Be willing to support other team members and contribute to the induction of new members when needed
To take and transcribe Minutes of the Undergraduate Partnership Committee, and meetings with medical students in difficulty for forwarding to the Medical School
To be responsible for updating the information on the hospital’s intranet regarding Undergraduate Medical Education
Work in collaboration with the other Education Coordinators to provide cover in the absence of other undergraduate and postgraduate education coordinators to provide a consistent service
Assist at junior doctor inductions through the educational year
To attend internal and external meetings relating to undergraduate medical education
To provide cross cover for reception when required. Assist in moving chairs and equipment in the Centre meeting rooms; Centre security; and IT and AV queries
Be willing to occasionally work outside of core hours given reasonable notice and by negotiation
To carry out other relevant duties as required by the Medical Education Manager or senior team members
