Northern Mutual Insurance Company seeks a full-time Claims Representative to join their Auto Physical Damage team in Hancock, Michigan. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with good assessment skills to learn and grow in the insurance industry. The ideal person for this position is someone who has basic knowledge of vehicles, likes to work both inside and outside an office setting, and enjoys solving problems. Previous experience working in auto insurance claims helpful, but not required. We will train someone who has a great work ethic and wants to learn more about our company. WHAT WE OFFER.

• $20.00 or more per hour based on experience.

• Full-time Monday – Friday position generally working 8:00am – 4:30pm. Additional hours may be required to respond to policyholder needs in times of catastrophic events.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

• Determine policy coverage and investigate requests for automobile damage claims.
• Contact policyholders, claimants, agents and representatives promptly.
• Manage independent adjusters and defense attorneys.
• Settle claims in a prompt, professional and fair manner.
• Thoroughly document claim activities.
• Answer policy coverage questions from agents, employees and policyholders.
• Provide support to Claims Manager.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

• 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Professionalism in handling a variety of people (employees, policyholders, agents, attorneys, contractors, etc.) by phone, email and in-person.
• Experience estimating auto physical damage preferred, however, we will train someone motivated to learn and knowledgeable of vehicles.
• Knowledge of personal insurance policies, claims handling, and investigative procedures preferred.
• Solid skills in negotiating, analyzing situations, solving problems are essential.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, remain organized, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and load paper bins on printers and copiers.
