Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for an experienced Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals to lead and manage Support Equipment Design and Testing efforts for a restricted program. This position is located in Melbourne, FL .
The selected leader is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of environmental and on-aircraft functional testing of support equipment to support the program. Will develop/lead Engineering/Technical metrics that drive outcomes for cost/schedule, engage in process improvements, and ensure engineering rigor in all Support Equipment Engineering and Test Operations. Responsibilities include managing a team to establish, plan, and deliver recommended solutions to functional requirements associated with program and project requirements.
Tasking also includes supporting the management of design concepts, preliminary and critical design reviews, guidance of test documentation, oversight of integration, validation, and verification activities, and collaborate with suppliers and customer for coordination. The leader will be responsible for developing and executing to schedule and budgets within processes and program directives.
This manager is responsible for Earned Value Management (EVM) planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, and related group of work packages on a large system development type contract.
The manager will be able to establish goals based on objective oriented tasking. General competence is desired in Logistics and Product Support teams, including:
Supportability Engineering
Reliability and Maintainability
Technical Publications
Training
Supply Support
Support Equipment Design Engineering
Function and be accountable for tasking in an integrated work share environment, with detailed reporting responsibilities to upper Leadership. In addition, proposal and estimating, task and statement of work development are important aspects of this position.
This position will require oversight of projects and task assigned to the organizational group performed by employees. You will be expected to be involved only when required to assist in meeting schedules or to resolve technical or operational problems, and may accomplish results through motivating and directing to senior employees. The supervisory relationship will be to achieve results through lower-level subordinate supervisors or through experienced employees who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments. The selected candidate will have frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts. Will conduct briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal external representatives concerning specifics operations.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math from an accredited institution with 9 years of experience executing and leading mechanical and/or electrical mechanism design, manufacturing, and test efforts
Must have demonstrated experience in proposal and estimating
Must have demonstrated hands-on knowledge of IPT/Program Management processes (CAM processes, project planning and scheduling, cost control, change control, EVMS, staffing, coordination and oversight of technical work effort and risk and opportunity management)
Must have an Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 5 years
Must have the ability to obtain maintain Special Program Access
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience and a proven record of leading engineering teams in developing and testing Support Equipment that meet quality, performance, cost, and schedule requirements
Demonstrated hands-on experience in requirements management inclusive of development, derivation, validation and verification of requirements
Experience working on both classified and unclassified Military programs
Experience leading a large department in a matrix environment
Practice with earned value management (EVMS) and internal tools (i.e. Integrated Management Operating Model (IMOM)
Salary Range: $110,300.00 – $165,500.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
