Job Summary
Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for a Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer to be part of our Integration (Build) and Test team in Launch Vehicles at our Chandler, AZ facility.
Job Responsibilities
The candidate will serve as an Integration and Test Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer for the Sentinel Program, requiring the candidate to function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment. Daily responsibilities may require direct contact with sensitive launch vehicle flight hardware and ground support equipment. The candidate may be expected to help develop, plan and/or perform integration and testing activities associated with the assembly of flight hardware, testing of assembled systems and components, or execution/support of live fire tests (static and/or flight) at various facilities or launch ranges. Specific duties may include:
Hands-on integration or testing
Developing/maintaining procedures
Incorporating hardware/tooling design changes
Developing/planning/coordinating integration activities
Coordinating with suppliers and procurement office
Creating digital/physical mockups and tools
Complying with strict aerospace standards
Supporting live fire static testing and flight test events
Basic Qualifications
Minimum Education / Experience: 9 Years with Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering; 7 Years with Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering; 4 years with PhD
Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain a U.S. Passport for travel
Candidate must currently have ACTIVE DoD Secret level security clearance
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to large customer community
Hands-on mechanical aptitude
Ability to solve problems, support troubleshooting efforts, drive tasks to completion
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
Ability to work in a team environment, and lead small projects or teams
Ability to travel: Travel expectation 25%
Experience with aerospace standards/guidelines
Experience with external customer interfacing including meetings, presentations & negotiations
Experience working with operational hazards such as propulsive devices, pressurized systems, overhead lifting, and high voltage systems
Knowledge and experience with CAD software and GD&T
Experience working with design, integration, or testing of launch vehicles
Hands-on mechanical aptitude and experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience performing formal requirements decomposition and/or verification
Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering background
Extensive experience with aerospace standards/guidelines
Extensive experience with external customer interfacing including meetings, presentations & negotiations
Extensive experience working with operational hazards such as propulsive devices, pressurized systems, overhead lifting, and high voltage systems
Extensive knowledge and experience with CAD software and GD&T
Extensive experience working with design, integration, or testing of launch vehicles
Significant hands-on mechanical aptitude and experience
Salary Range: $101,600.00 – $152,400.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
