*We are looking for applicants from the Portland, Oregon area. After completion of training at our office in Portland, the medical scheduler will work remotely from their residence in the Portland metro area.

Job Description for Medical Scheduler at NW Gastroenterology Clinic

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

• Responsible for answering a high volume of incoming calls to our busy scheduling line.
• Schedules office visits and gastroenterological procedures for patients at our clinics, ambulatory surgery center, and local hospitals.
• Ensures there is enough time between appointments to allow physicians to complete certain medical examinations and procedures.
• Other clerical duties include maintaining databases, faxing and scanning patient histories, answering phones, and updating patient account information.
• Conveys a positive and professional image and maintains composure when faced with stressful situations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Obtain patient information at the time of booking an appointment and assist in filling out forms, relevant documents, and patient histories
• Fill and distribute daily schedules for physicians and advanced practice clinicians
• Maintain and update physician and patient data
• Collect and verify accurate insurance information
• Organize and maintain confidential medical files and records
• Fulfill clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending/ receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/ x-ray reports, hospital notes, hospital procedures, referral information, to ensure all information is completed and filed appropriately.
• Fulfill organizational responsibilities as assigned which may include: respecting/ promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/ or staff with immediate supervisors quickly.

Job Type: Full-time, Mon-Fri 10am-7pm

EPIC and Medical Office experience preferred.
