Prior Experience as a Transplant Center Administrator preferred. The _Director of Operations/Transplant Center Administrator_ reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The _Director of Operations/Transplant Center Administrator_ oversees the clinical, research and administrative activities of the NMH Transplant Center, NMG Division of Organ Transplantation and Northwestern University Comprehensive Transplant Center (CTC) and facilitates progress toward achievement of Program goals. The Director is in continual communication with NMH operational departments, Transplant Center physician leadership, Transplant Program managers, NM senior management and Feinberg School of Medicine leadership regarding activities of the Transplant Program. The Director of Operations will be responsible for partnering with the medical and department/hospital/medical school leadership to manage the administration of the division, clinical program and Center, including but not limited to: operations, quality management, performance, financial affairs, strategic planning, human resources, research, and education. This role supports the operations of the clinical practice and research enterprise and ensures that all organizational policies and procedures are appropriately implemented. *Responsibilities:* * Formulates and implements policies and procedures to facilitate processes and clarify and correct procedural problems. * Evaluates the feasibility, coordination and implementation of new or revised systems, processes and procedures, to ensure compliance with established standards. * Responsible for the coordination and implementation of strategies that enhance the image of NM and the community. * Collaborates with Medical Staff leadership and other departments as needed regarding practices and standard operating procedures that relate to NM. * Responsible for meeting operational, financial and strategic goals for unit/area or program. * Perform other duties as assigned. /Additional Responsibilities/ * Establish annual and long-term Program goals, strategies and plans (including business plans) consistent with hospital, medical group and medical school goals and strategies. Collaborate in the development of financial, production, compensation and operational targets and models. * Manage physician, faculty, and trainee and student activities, including those related to payroll, physician status, and productivity, recruitment, immigration and physician relations. For approved recruitments, develop the financial and production expectations. Manage education and training processes, including those related to graduate and continuing medical education. * Manage the human resources activities including those related to recruiting, hiring, orienting, training, disciplining, terminating, performance evaluation, goal-setting, employee relations and staff payroll, in compliance with all applicable policies and procedures. * Develop and maintain strong working relationships with leadership as appropriate and senior management to ensure close coordination of medical staff and administrative goals, plans, and strategies. * Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, local, Joint Commission, and hospital regulations, policies, and procedures. * Develop the annual operating budgets for the Program to meet institutional targets. In collaboration with medical leadership, manage the Program within the approved budget. Provide financial management support to optimize operational decision making, and manage the activity and balances for all accounts (including grants) throughout the year. * Work closely with NMH and NMG finance and managed care to ensure optimal reporting (including Medicare cost report), contracting and billing. * Establish and ensure compliance with quality and performance standards, and oversee quality planning and management. Work closely with NMH quality team to ensure appropriate measures/data are being monitored and analyzed and that performance improvement plans are developed as required. * Manage other diverse needs of the Program, including those related to facilities, information systems, communication, coordination among entities, marketing, managed care, etc. /Additional Management Responsibility/ * Direct Reports: Manager, Clinical Care, NMH Transplant Center; Performance Manager, NMH Transplant Center; Manager, Transplant Support Services; Program Director, Transplant Program Development; Division Administrator, Transplant Surgery; Manager, Organ Transplant Immunology Lab; Associate Director of Research and Finance, CTC; others as assigned *Required:* * Master’s degree in relevant field. * 8+ years of healthcare management and clinical experience OR Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. * 10+ years of healthcare management and clinical experience AND excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Proven skills in leadership, planning and quality. * Qualified by training, experience, interest, and demonstrated current ability, and shall be willing and able to discharge the administrative qualifications of his/her office. * Administrative, interpersonal, and management skills, excellent judgment and quality assessment skills. * Working knowledge of trends in health care management, staff issues and economics.
