Job overview
Working with a vision of “delivering excellence in all everything we do”, the post holder will be based within the department of clinical haematology.
The post holder will be an enthusiastic, proactive role model who leads in the clinical environment on the provision of clinical education and assessment of competence within the haematology department. The successful candidate will be passionate about patient care, staff support and education. They will be an experienced haematology nurse and strong team player, with extensive knowledge about the speciality including chemotherapy and Bone Marrow Transplant.
The post holder will;
work alongside nurses and other healthcare practitioners to ensure the provision of high quality safe and effective evidence-based care; in accordance with local, divisional and hospital policies and procedures.
Assist in identifying and defining areas for improvement and develop targeted teaching and learning activities to facilitate improvement.
Develop and deliver training and educational programmes and optimise learning activities for practitioners ensure that the organisation has an accurate record of a practitioner’s learning.

Clinical
To support the development of staff, and foster empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced based nursing practice.
To coordinate orientation of new staff.
To promote reflective practice, clinical supervision and experiential learning opportunities developing a learning culture in the clinical environment. To contribute towards the development and maintenance of clinical staff competence in the use of medical equipment in the clinical area, in order to comply with the Trust’s health and safety policy.
To be a visible role model to ensure that the dignity, rights and confidentiality of the patient and individual team members are protected and maintained in accordance with national standards and guidelines.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To ensure the delivery of care is in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines and practices of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust
To liaise with appropriate line manager / senior staff to ensure individuals’ personal and development needs are used to inform planning of education and training. To ensure line managers and senior staff are kept informed of progress.
To assist with annual training needs analysis.
To ensure that continuing professional development is provided for all staff, including students and elective placements, so that the required level of knowledge and competence is maintained / achieved.
In conjunction with other educator and Line managers ensure mandatory training database is accurate and maintained, escalating in a timely manner any concerns or issues.
To assist in the development of a planned programme of attendance of mandatory training, team days and the haematology study days.
To assist staff to complete Competency packages and ensure up to date records are maintained in staff files and on training database.
To assist Educational Lead with Educational Audits as required.
To organise Haematology Educational Programmes to provide the opportunity for staff to develop their skills in A-E assessment and essential haematology skills etc.
To contribute to the monitoring and control of expenditure and the use of resources.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
