Reporting to the Maintenance & Operations Assistant Manager, the Maintenance Worker I performs a variety of unskilled to semi-skilled tasks related to the upkeep of Nova Scotia Health properties (facilities & grounds) and related infrastructure, including but not limited to operating, monitoring, maintenance, and service requirements of all grounds and facility related infrastructure and equipment, aiding other maintenance and operations trades, and other related duties as required. The Maintenance Worker I assists with and/or maintains and follows operational, equipment, tools & safety codes, standards, and procedures. In addition to carrying out general maintenance duties on a rotating shift basis within various Nova Scotia Health facilities as directed by site supervisor, the Maintenance Worker will be required to perform building quality assurance rounds, as well as tasks in the areas of construction, installation, inspection of structure, and mechanical and equipment troubleshooting and repair. The Maintenance Worker will be required to abide by the Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures, and is required to maintain record keeping in relation to maintenance duties including work orders, material requisitions, and inspection forms etc.
