Novelis Clayton Manufacturing Facility Hiring for Production Operator Asst – Mill at Clayton, NJ Full Time

The Novelis Clayton, NJ facility is seeking to add a talented Production Operator Asst to its Cold Rolling Mill. The purpose of this role is to safely, efficiently, and effectively process aluminum coils by assisting the Lead Operator in the set up and operation of the breakdown mill.

The Novelis Clayton, NJ facility is seeking to add a talented Production Operator Asst to its Cold Rolling Mill. The purpose of this role is to safely, efficiently, and effectively process aluminum coils by assisting the Lead Operator in the set up and operation of the breakdown mill.
Evening shift position (6pm – 6am) with starting hourly rate $24.62, top rate $28.33, plus applicable shift premium of $0.75.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:

- Maintains a safe working environment by complying with Novelis EHS standards and policies, all state and federal regulations, and company policies and procedures. Keeps breakdown mill area and workstation organized and maintains good housekeeping standards at all times.
- Prepares equipment by assisting in making machine adjustments for proper feeding, speed, gauge, sprays, roller pressure and adjustment as operation dictates.
- Supports established production standards by consistently meeting demanding quality and output schedules.
- Operates annealing furnaces.
- Transports coils by operating forklifts and overhead hoist.
- Supports and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and has the ability to work in a team environment.
- Maintains accurate, legible and timely records by completing paperwork/computer log.
- Completes Preventative Maintenance Requirements by inspecting equipment for potential problems and, if necessary, completing maintenance work order.
- Maintains product quality by assisting Operator A in inspecting coil to ensure conformance to specifications and by following organizational ISO9001:2015 standards.
- Provides support as required to the operation by performing other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Perform basic math calculations, including measurements
- Possess basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Perform lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated forklift experience, preferred
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Must be able to work any hours, overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled/required.

Location Profile:
Built in 1970 the Clayton facility employs more than 100 people and engages in a re-rolling and finishing operation that supplies foil and light-gauge non-heat treatable aluminum coiled sheet and products including semi-rigid formed container stock HVAC standard and automotive fin stock pharmaceutical closure stock spiral duct stock and distribution.
